Australorp
The Australorp is a chicken breed of Australian origin, developed as utility breed with a focus on egg laying. It is a calm breed that doesnt fly. Except the standard australorp there is also a bantam version.
They are available in black, white and blue laced. I only have the standard black australorp.
In average they lay 260 eggs annually. That makes them a very good egg laying breed. Unlike many other breeds they just keep laying in winter. And with a weight of +/- 4 kilo for a rooster and of +/- 3 kilo for a hen, they are also good for meat purposes. The Australorp is a big chicken with a large and full body. They have a small head compared to their body. And their back is of medium size, ending in a beautiful tail.
